A Yorkshire thatched cottage.

This picturesque stone cottage in the North Yorkshire village of Thornton le Dale was built around 1600. It stands on a curve of the trout stream that meanders down from the village of Ellerburn, towards the village green. In the centre of the village a medievel stone cross stands next to the old wooden stocks. Chestnut trees line the village street where boys collect their fruit in the autumn to play the game of conkers. The stream continues its journey along the main street and the village children can still be seen with fishing rods hoping to catch a nice rainbow trout.
